Roguelands casts you as a Galactic Cadet sent to hostile planets to gather resources before the Destroyer consumes their cores. Each planet is procedurally generated as your Combat Squad beams down, bringing different creatures, threats, ores, and vegetation. The mission gives exploration a clear purpose: collect what you can, then return to your home ship with whatever survives the expedition.
Resource gathering has an unusual division of labor. Rather than mining or chopping directly, you command Droids, whose abilities cover tasks such as cutting trees, mining ores, gathering herbs, and fighting. Loot feeds a crafting loop: collect ten pieces of an item to make an Emblem, then combine three Emblems at the Gear Forge for new gear. Death wipes the weapons, armor, and loot carried by that Cadet, but stored supplies, ship upgrades, and saved NPCs persist; repeated runs can also unlock character options. Weapon variants, randomly generated augments, and equipable Combat Chips further shape a build, with chips offering passive bonuses or active abilities.
The store lists Roguelands as single-player and multiplayer, with co-op and cross-platform multiplayer categories. The broader loop is about taking risks on unfamiliar worlds, crafting from recovered materials, and gradually expanding what future Cadets can access.
