In Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos, an ancient danger threatens the land after the seals holding back the Titans weaken. Players take on the role of a hero charged with protecting Tasos, venturing into the Great Dungeons to confront the threat. Its action-adventure premise is paired with a rogue-lite structure: falling in battle does not end the journey, as heroes can return, improve, and head out again.
Dungeon rooms have hand-designed layouts, but their traps, puzzles, and enemies are arranged in randomized configurations, so successive runs differ. Combat uses a top-down swordplay style, with spells and tools including a bow, boomerang, and grappling hook. Loot has a role beyond expeditions, too: it can fund buildings in Intori, the village where upgrades can add to a hero’s abilities and equipment. Several character classes offer distinct abilities to suit different play styles.
The adventure can be played alone or cooperatively with up to three friends, making its play format relevant when reading player-count figures: the same dungeon-focused quest supports either a solo expedition or a small team taking on the Titans. The combination of repeat runs, town development, and randomized dungeon encounters gives the game a progression loop that connects combat missions with preparation for the next descent.
