Rogue Blight casts its action around a blight-infected world filled with monsters, framing its adventure as a two-dimensional, Souls-inspired rogue-lite. Its single-player format makes the experience a self-contained run through hostile terrain rather than a shared online session.
Combat pairs formidable enemies and bosses with an expanding set of build choices. Weapons are one-handed, so players can combine swords, daggers, wands, and shields across their hands, while more than fifty weapons offer distinct skills. Status effects such as poison, burn, freeze, and bleed can affect even bosses. Character levels unlock further gear and blessings, and permanent upgrades carry forward to future runs.
Each run traverses three randomly generated maps, populated by distinct enemies, backgrounds, and encounters. Along the way, players can find chests, visit a shop, pray at a statue to improve health, mana, or stamina, and use a blacksmith to upgrade equipment by smelting spare gear. The game also offers an infinite New Game+ story mode with escalating challenges, giving its run-based structure a longer-term progression path.
