Set in the year 117 After Earth, Red Solstice 2: Survivors puts players in command of the Cell, a secret taskforce confronting the STROL mutant invasion. Its mission is both immediate and far-reaching: lead a squad through dangerous operations while seeking a cure for the virus threatening humanity. The sci-fi premise gives its tactical decisions a survival focus, with the fate of the planet at stake.
The game pairs a strategy layer with real-time missions, asking players to choose an operation and loadout before deploying. On the battlefield, they manage resources, explore open maps, and secure areas while adapting their plans to a spreading biomass infection. Classic real-time strategy controls support proactive planning, execution, and improvisation. Research and technology upgrades add another layer to the campaign, while six classes, including Medic, Recon, and Heavy Support, offer distinct roles.
Red Solstice 2: Survivors can be played solo or in co-op, with campaigns and combat missions open to groups of up to eight players. The documented design centers on mission-based squad tactics, not simply on the number of players present.
