Red Faction: Armageddon casts Darius Mason, a descendant of Martian revolutionaries, as a contractor whose work goes catastrophically wrong. After he opens a sealed shaft in an old Marauder temple, a dormant threat emerges. With Mars’s Terraformer destroyed and colonists sheltering underground, Darius and the Red Faction must confront the danger across the storm-ravaged planet and beneath its surface.
Destruction and reconstruction are central to the game’s identity. Darius can unleash the Nano Forge in concussive blasts, or use Geo-Mod 2.0 to rebuild damaged colonist defenses. That pairing gives the action a distinctive push and pull: the same technology can help demolish obstacles and restore protection. The setting also moves between battered settlements, frozen glaciers and underground terrain shaped by rivers of magma, making the struggle for survival as important to the premise as the battle itself.
Ruin instead focuses on competitive and casual destruction-based play. These modes place Armageddon’s solo campaign alongside distinct multiplayer options, rather than making its identity depend on one kind of session.
