Realm Revolutions is a single-player idle game built around an unusual cycle: expanding your population boosts development, but too many citizens become discontent and may revolt. The premise turns population growth into a balancing act rather than an uncomplicated route to progress. A revolution resets the game, yet the people behind it become happy and contribute a production bonus, giving the upheaval a strategic payoff.
At the start, gold pays for buildings and citizen hiring, while food is required to recruit citizens. Each citizen uses one food unit regardless of their cost, so players must weigh when to hire more expensive people against the value of their limited food. Revolutions are also tied to particular groups: if peasants revolt, only peasants become happy afterward. Choosing which group should reach that breaking point shapes the reset and its resulting benefit.
Building onward opens up animals, magic, an army, monster battles, and the assimilation of other races, broadening the idle economy into a fantasy progression.
