Razenroth follows Charles Carter, a young journalist who enters a world of nightmares to investigate his grandfather Joseph’s mysterious disappearance. Its dark action-RPG premise puts exploration and combat together: Carter faces a range of creatures and dangerous bosses while seeking a way through an unsettling landscape.
The structure is built around variation. Levels, weather, and the placement and quantity of key elements are generated randomly, so each run differs; scenery can shift between forests, marshes, graveyards, and caves. Combat is supported by objects such as spells, potions, and equipment, while defeating monsters grants experience for improving character statistics and skills. Random events can also introduce tasks with valuable rewards, and interactive features include shrines, chests, and other discoveries.
The documented design also includes a home where Carter can heal and buy supplies, alongside additional characters that can be unlocked. Together, these systems give the game a progression-focused roguelike character while keeping its central hook on repeated trips into a hostile, shifting world.
