Rayman Legends begins when Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies discover a mysterious tent of paintings and are transported into mythical worlds. Their adventure is framed as a journey home, with the added aims of saving the day and uncovering the paintings’ secrets. That premise gives the game’s varied stages a shared thread rather than presenting them as unrelated challenges.
The action centers on running, jumping, and slapping through each world, while the design also introduces battles with dragons and other large creatures that attack from multiple angles. Musical stages make rhythm part of the challenge: players jump to drumbeats, punch to bass lines, and zip-line during guitar riffs, with timing described as key to completing maps set to original and licensed tracks. These shifts between platforming, boss fights, and music-driven movement are among the game’s defining contrasts.
Rayman Legends supports single-player as well as cooperative play, including a four-player format where friends can join or leave during the action.
