Ravenbound blends fast-paced action with roguelite progression and an open-world setting inspired by Scandinavian folklore. You serve the Raven as a succession of vessels, seeking to restore its power and free Ávalt’s imprisoned gods. Each vessel is lost in battle, but its strength carries forward, making repeated attempts part of the game’s central design rather than a detour from the story.
Exploration spans the island of Ávalt: travel on foot or take Raven form to soar through its skies, then face creatures including Trolls, Hulders and Draugr. Combat is built around mastering varied, fluid encounters, while cards and unlocks expand the available equipment and tactics. New cards arrive across lifetimes, sometimes by chance and sometimes through player choice. Rewards bring a tradeoff: each one increases the Betrayer’s hatred and strengthens her minions, tying character growth to rising danger.
Its defining loop is to explore, fight, gain new options and return to the struggle against the Betrayer with strength carried over from previous vessels.
