Ravager turns the familiar fantasy of a hero defeating a dragon on its head: you play a young dragon seeking to reclaim his birthright. The journey moves through a dark fantasy saga, from building power and finding allies to returning to conquer lands and depose the regent ruling in your stead. Its single-player format centers the experience on one character’s rise and the choices shaping his rule.
Those choices are not confined to a simple good-or-evil track. Challenges can be approached through strength or cunning, while respect and fear offer contrasting ways to deal with others; the game also allows these attitudes to be mixed. Along the way, the dragon can join forces with half-human tribes, mercenaries, and stranger powers. The resulting design presents rulership as both a strategic alliance-building effort and a matter of personal conduct.
Characters have their own motivations and inclinations, and their paths can rise or fall under the player’s influence. Ravager also describes its narrative as adaptive, with replaying intended to reveal different outcomes and discoveries.
