Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart follows the familiar intergalactic duo as they confront an evil emperor from another reality and try to stop a dimensional collapse. The adventure also introduces Rivet, a Lombax resistance fighter from another dimension, placing her alongside Ratchet and Clank as the story crosses between worlds. Its alternate realities are not just scenery: dimensional rifts connect the journey to new worlds and gameplay.
Combat centers on an arsenal of explosive weapons, including the Burst Pistol, Topiary Sprinkler and Shatterbomb. Ratchet and Rivet can zip above cityscapes, boost into combat and slip through dimensions with gadgets, while rifts provide a way to cross battlefields and repair planetary fractures through dimension-spanning puzzles. The game also features Clank’s interdimensional mechanics, adding another strand to its blend of action, movement and puzzle-solving.
On PC, players can use mouse and keyboard with customizable controls or a supported controller, with the DualSense offering haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Its format puts the emphasis on following the dimensional story and engaging with its combat and traversal at the player’s own pace.
