Railway Empire 2 casts you as an entrepreneur taking over a small railway company in the early 1800s. The goal is to grow it into a major continental business by connecting cities and companies with rail lines, bridges and tunnels. Its setting draws on the Industrial Revolution, with steam locomotives hauling both passengers and freight as the economy develops.
Network planning is central to the strategy. Improved track construction is designed to leave more attention for business decisions, while automatically placed signals, bridges that can carry up to four tracks and expandable stations with room for up to eight tracks shape how routes can grow. Players can select from six company leaders, each with different strengths and weaknesses, and operate across broad maps of the United States and continental Europe or more focused regional maps.
The game offers a five-chapter campaign, scenarios, customizable Free Play and a construction mode, alongside cooperative multiplayer.
