An asteroid has devastated Earth, and RAGE places you among people chosen to survive in buried life-sustaining pods. You emerge alone into a wasteland where bandit gangs, mutants and the Authority threaten humanity’s attempts to rebuild. That setup gives the action a personal edge: the oppressive regime has a particular interest in you, while survival means facing a world that prefers you dead.
Combat and exploration share the spotlight. On foot, you fight with an arsenal that includes Wingsticks, personal turrets, sentry bots and remote-controlled bomb cars. Then the game shifts perspective for vehicle combat: customize a super buggy with weapons and other special parts, take on bandit clans or enter deadly races. An explorable world, side quests and a central storyline connect those distinct kinds of action rather than limiting the experience to shooting encounters.
RAGE is designed around several play formats: a single-player story, exclusive co-op modes and online car combat. The contrast between wasteland exploration, first-person firefights and vehicular battles is central to what sets the game apart.
