Rabi-Ribi follows Erina, once an ordinary rabbit, after she becomes a rabbit-eared human in an unfamiliar world. She travels with Ribbon, a cheerful fairy who stays by her side, as the pair seek to restore Erina’s life to normal. The premise sets up a colorful 2D exploration platformer, but the journey is not a strictly guided march from one objective to the next.
Exploration is central to the game’s design: hints are available, yet players are not required to follow them, leaving room to choose where to roam. Combat gives the duo distinct roles. Erina fights at close range, while Ribbon attacks from a distance under indirect player control. Items and upgrades scattered around the world can improve both characters’ skills and attacks, and players decide which to collect. That freedom even extends to self-imposed challenges, such as attempting hard mode without items.
The advertised scope includes multiple difficulty settings, main and sub-areas, and a large roster of boss encounters with varied attack patterns. Boss Rush lets players fight some or all of those battles in a row, while post-game story content and a speedrun mode provide other ways to approach the adventure.
