PULSAR: Lost Colony casts players as a crew trying to operate a starship and explore a randomized galaxy in chaos. Its central design is cooperative: each crewmember takes a distinct job, and survival depends on coordinating those responsibilities rather than treating the ship as a single pilot’s vehicle.
The five roles shape the work aboard ship. Captains choose routes and coordinate decisions, Pilots navigate and maneuver, Scientists handle scans and research, Weapons Specialists manage combat systems, and Engineers repair the ship and balance its power. Players can reroute energy, operate turrets, scan enemy vessels, and engage the warp drive, while missions also lead to abandoned stations, planetary surfaces, scavenging, and encounters with dangerous environments. Ship-to-ship combat is described as fast-paced and tactical, with boarding and teleportation adding ways to engage beyond a direct fight.
The game supports online co-op for one to five players, alongside an offline single-player mode and customizable AI crew bots in both online and offline play.
