Project Silverfish is a single-player first-person shooter and immersive sim set in a hostile, mysterious exclusion zone. Its expedition mixes combat with investigation: players hunt artifacts, explore cold-war-era dungeons, follow other explorers’ paths, and piece together clues about the zone and humanity’s past. Missions and contracts are approached through exploration and lead-chasing rather than a narrowly described sequence of objectives.
Its defining design puts decisions in the player’s hands. Choose one of six premade classes or customize an Inheritor, then face threats with gunplay, tools, and equipment. The game describes no scripted solutions or hand-holding, so dealing with dangers calls for judgment as well as aim. Detective work matters too: clues and deductive reasoning help uncover answers, while the zone’s factions present choices about whom to work with or join.
Artifacts add another layer to preparation and combat. Some provide passive buffs; charging others with Eather lets them produce unusual effects, and some can be crafted into exotic firearms. Perk rolls and game rules support a different setup or experience each time.
