Primordialis is a physics-based roguelike about designing a fish from cells and sending it into a hostile primordial ecosystem. Its creature-building system offers more than 60 cell types, each with distinct properties and functions, so a body can be shaped around a particular approach rather than a fixed character class. The game’s strange arsenal includes venomous tentacles, electrical shocks and explosive offspring, giving its creature design an unusually biological edge.
In the main roguelike mode, a run becomes a difficult journey of growth and evolution. Players explore hand-crafted enemies that use the same creation system, discover cell types and mutations, and cross five main biomes while seeking what lies at the end. The design supports sharply different builds: a massive serpent that swallows other creatures whole is one stated possibility, while more intricate mechanisms and circuitry offer another direction. These systems make each creature’s construction central to how the game frames survival and combat.
Sandbox mode provides a separate space to work on designs, examine enemy biology or build more casually, alongside the run-based challenge. Its mix of hands-on construction, unusual biological weapons and survival progression is the defining draw.
