POSTAL casts players as The POSTAL Dude in a violent, unstable town, where survival depends on confronting gunmen rather than fleeing them. Its isometric viewpoint frames the action as a series of dangerous encounters, with enemies appearing around every corner and a destructive arsenal at the player’s disposal. The premise is deliberately blunt: push through a hostile world by fighting back.
Combat is built around nine weapons, including the Scatter Gun, grenades, mines, a Napalm Launcher and Heatseeker Rockets. The opposition ranges from Molotov-throwing Grenadiers to rocket-firing Heavy-Weapons Experts, alongside angry ostriches, giving the encounters a mix of armed threats and stranger foes. Beyond the campaign, the game lists 22 bonus Challenge stages across four categories, which can also be played in The Gauntlet. Mouse and dual-analog controls offer alternatives to the original tank-style scheme.
POSTAL supports single-player play as well as LAN co-op and deathmatch for up to 16 players. Its design centers on fast-paced shooting, varied weapons and survival through a violence-stricken town.
