Portal of Evil: Stolen Runes Collector’s Edition casts Vanessa as the heiress of Abraham Van Helsing and a member of the secret Order of Light. Invited to Italy by Archbishop Benedict, she must recover runes stolen from a seal protecting the world from an ancient evil. Her grandfather’s clues point toward doors to other worlds and times, while her mysterious visions and a ghostly hunchback become part of the unfolding story.
The adventure’s documented design combines exploration with hidden-object searching and compact puzzles: its feature list specifies 60 locations, 26 hidden-object scenes and 45 mini-games. More than 200 objects are listed for use, giving the search-and-puzzle format a concrete role in Vanessa’s investigation rather than presenting the game as a conventional action-focused adventure. The listed 42 cinematics also indicate a substantial story presentation alongside those activities.
This is a single-player game, so its player-count context is individual progression through a narrative mystery, not a shared or competitive session. Its mix of locations, object searches, mini-games and story scenes helps explain what a player is engaging with: a solo casual-adventure investigation built around finding the runes and exploring the worlds opened by Vanessa’s clues.
