Polygon Attack casts the player as Earth’s lone defender against an alien fleet bent on destroying the planet. Its central challenge is to hold off continuous attacks, break through successive enemy waves and confront unpredictable bosses. That setup makes the game’s action about surviving an escalating assault rather than exploring a broader campaign.
Combat relies on agility and sustained fire, while a range of weapons offers distinct characteristics and effects. Upgrades for weapons and equipment provide a way to improve the player’s setup, and enemy-specific approaches give encounters a tactical wrinkle. Allies can also be summoned for help, alongside awards and bonuses earned by destroying enemies. The game supports control by gamepad or mouse, matching its direct, action-focused design.
Its visuals take inspiration from the Vectrex console, with that look recreated on modern hardware. The combination of wave survival, boss fights, upgrade choices and retro-inspired graphics defines its particular take on alien-invasion action.
