Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition turns a home invasion into a strategy game about choosing where and when to plant. An approaching horde of zombies meets an arsenal that includes peashooters and cherry bombs, so players must think quickly as they build their defense. The invaders come in distinct varieties, from pole-vaulters and snorkelers to drivers of the lumbering “Zomboni.”
The game offers five modes: Adventure, Mini-Games, Puzzle, Survival and a more relaxed Zen Garden. Adventure spans 50 levels across changing settings, including day, night, fog, a swimming pool and a rooftop. Those shifting conditions give the central planting challenge a different backdrop, while coins, unlockable perennials and Crazy Dave’s shop add rewards and tools to pursue. An Almanac collects information and playful remarks about the plants and zombies.
Its appeal comes from combining accessible, colorful plant-versus-zombie combat with tactical pressure: players must respond to different enemies and environmental obstacles rather than relying on a single defense. The mix of structured Adventure stages and other modes broadens the experience, while the Zen Garden offers a change of pace.
