Pillars of Eternity sends players into a fantasy realm shaped by their decisions, with a party of companions exploring monster-infested dungeons in search of lost treasures and ancient mysteries. Its emphasis on exploration and consequence gives the adventure a personal dimension: choices can shape a character’s story and standing among competing factions.
Character building offers six playable races and eleven classes, from Chanter and Cipher to Fighter and Wizard. Five core skills, including Mechanics, Lore and Survival, are presented as tools for overcoming different situations. Rather than treating combat as the only way to define a character, the game’s listed skills and faction reputation system connect preparation and decisions to its broader adventure.
Players can choose real-time combat with pause or a turn-based mode, and switch between them during the adventure. Its classic RPG structure brings character customization, companion-led exploration and consequential choices together in one fantasy campaign.
