Phoenix Point casts the player as leader of the Phoenix Project, a secret organization trying to repel an alien invasion and protect humanity’s remaining communities. The campaign combines globe-spanning exploration with research, technology development, base building and resource management. Its threat is not static: the Pandorans mutate and adapt to the player’s tactics, keeping the strategic problem in motion as soldiers and equipment grow stronger.
Combat pairs unit equipment and command decisions with a distinctive free-aiming system. Rather than relying only on selecting a target, players can direct a soldier’s shots toward an enemy’s weak spots, weapons or valuables. The larger conflict also involves human factions, including New Jericho, Synedrion and the Disciples of Anu. Diplomacy offers a way to cooperate, while subterfuge or military force provide other approaches to their competing goals and interests.
This is a single-player strategy and RPG campaign, not a shared-session game. The campaign’s shape instead comes from its evolving alien opposition, political choices and story, which has multiple endings discoverable across several playthroughs. Steam Workshop support also allows players to subscribe to and enable mods, including custom campaign setups.
