Patrick’s Parabox turns pushing boxes into a study of recursive space. Its world is built around boxes nested within other boxes, and solving puzzles means changing that structure through movement. The premise grows stranger when a box can contain itself, inviting players to work out how the recursive system behaves and how infinity can become useful.
The game features more than 350 hand-crafted puzzles, each designed to encourage thought while guiding players through the system. Its description says each puzzle contains a new idea, and promises no filler; deeper play brings additional mechanics and recursive twists.
Sound helps shape the game’s inquisitive atmosphere: Priscilla Snow composed its soundtrack and sound design, which reflect new mechanics as they are introduced. Patrick’s Parabox received the Excellence in Design award at the Independent Games Festival 2020, and was also an IndieCade 2019 festival selection and recipient of the IndieCade Developers Choice award. Its distinctive design is the recursive box system, explored through puzzles that introduce new ideas.
