Set in late-20th-century Sumida, Tokyo, PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is a horror-adventure visual novel about a mysterious Rite of Resurrection and the local legends surrounding it. Office worker Shogo Okiie begins investigating the Seven Mysteries with his friend Yoko, but he is not the only one drawn into the mystery. Detectives, a schoolgirl seeking answers about a classmate’s death, and a grieving mother pursuing revenge bring intersecting motives to a story shaped by deadly curses.
Investigation and conversation drive the search for clues, while careful choices carry danger: the game warns that missing crucial evidence or choosing movements poorly can lead to a character’s demise. Its curse encounters add a strategic layer, asking players to decide when to use their own curse while avoiding the threat of being cursed in turn. Multiple points of view and revelations make the mystery something to piece together from different perspectives, rather than a single uninterrupted account.
The setting has a distinctive visual foundation: recreated 360-degree photo spheres use real Sumida scenery, giving investigations an ambient sense of place. The store lists the game as single-player, so its player-count context is a solo, story-led experience rather than a shared session. That format puts the focus on following dialogue, weighing clues and choices, and tracing how the characters’ hopes and fears converge around Honjo’s mysteries.
