Paper Trail follows Paige, a budding academic leaving home for the first time to pursue her studies. Its paper-crafted world makes that departure more than a backdrop: exploring means changing the landscape itself. The journey combines a personal coming-of-age premise with a playful visual idea, inviting players to see each stretch of terrain as something that can be rearranged.
The central puzzle mechanic is folding the world, joining paths across its two sides to open routes and reach new areas. As puzzles grow more involved, players alter the layout by contorting, spinning, rotating and twisting sections of the paper landscape. That hands-on spatial problem-solving sits alongside encounters with a cast of characters, whose stories broaden Paige’s view of the world. Handcrafted settings range from deep caves to rain-buffeted treetops, while printmaking and watercolour influences give the adventure a distinctive flat, illustrated look.
Paper Trail is a single-player adventure, so its play format is one person working through Paige’s journey and its puzzles rather than a shared multiplayer session.
