OxyRail casts players into an open world where oxygen is scarce for reasons the game leaves unknown. Starting from scratch, they gather materials and build a train that serves as both shelter and the foundation for a growing settlement. The train is more than transport: its carriages can be designed for different purposes, and upgrades and defenses help it withstand threats beyond its walls.
Survival blends resource gathering with several kinds of hands-on work. Players explore varied terrains for unusual materials, while planting crops, raising chickens, fishing and cooking help sustain life aboard. Oxygen remains a central concern, addressed by seeking sources or researching technology. Hostile creatures and oxygen bandits add combat pressure, while research unlocks technologies and items, with the description also mentioning the possibility of light automation. Together, these systems make the train a base to customize and maintain rather than just a vehicle to build once.
The game supports solo play as well as online co-op for one to eight players. Its mix of construction, exploration, farming and combat gives groups several ways to spend their time in the same oxygen-starved world.
