Overlooting sends an unlikely trio on a quest against a dark force corrupting the world. The party pairs Maximilian, a noble-born hero, with Liz, a wanted legendary thief, and The Shadow, a mysterious being suspected of causing the corruption. That uneasy alliance gives the adventure a distinctive setup: the group must confront a threat while one member is tied to its suspected origins.
Loot is the central activity, but equipment choices carry more weight than simply replacing weaker items. Gear belongs to sets, and collecting enough pieces unlocks unique bonuses, giving players a reason to shape a build around what they find. A skill tree that changes each game adds another layer of adaptation: its skills may provide utility, boost power, or push a particular build further. The combination makes each run’s choices central to preparing the party for what lies ahead.
At the end of each region, a boss with special abilities tests the strength of the choices made along the way. Overlooting is listed as single-player, so its changing skills, set bonuses, and boss encounters are framed as a solo adventure rather than a multiplayer party experience.
