Over The Top: WWI frames the First World War as a multiplayer action sandbox where the battlefield itself is constantly at risk. Explosions can reshape terrain, collapse buildings and fortifications, and leave lasting changes to cover, routes, and sightlines. That emphasis makes destruction more than spectacle: the ground troops fight over can be altered as the battle unfolds.
Players choose France, Britain, or Germany and take on class roles with distinct jobs, including rifleman, engineer, flamethrower specialist, and officer. The arsenal spans historical weapons, vehicles, artillery, poison gas, and more unusual touches such as a morale-boosting bagpipe. Engineers can dig and reshape trenches, while the broader sandbox also supports a map editor for creating and sharing battlegrounds. Maps can be played across different seasons and times of day.
The game is built around large multiplayer battles, with objectives changing hands amid vehicles, collapsing trenches, and shifting terrain.
