Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap casts players as War Mages defending a rift from waves of orcs and other monsters. Its fantasy siege premise is paired with irreverent series humor, from witty orc chatter to enemies sent flying by exaggerated physics. Combat takes place in a third-person view, where shooting and melee attacks complement the work of building a defense.
The game’s heroes bring distinct weapons, abilities and traps, with designs suited to different play styles. Between escalating assaults, players contend with randomized buffs and debuffs that can affect heroes, equipment and levels; weather and time of day also shape enemies and defensive options. Those changing conditions create a push-your-luck rhythm: press deeper into the assault or return to the castle hub to improve a hero, weapons and traps before a boss fight against an Orc General.
Deathtrap supports solo play as well as cooperative teams of up to four, and is designed to adjust to the number of participants.
