Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty recasts Abe’s escape from RuptureFarms as the opening of a much longer journey. Abe discovers that his employer plans to turn the factory’s enslaved workers into novelty meat snacks, so staying alive means getting out of the production line and finding a way to save others. The danger continues beyond the plant, with the route taking Abe through native lands and ancient temples.
Survival depends on reading hazards and choosing how to move. Abe must evade guards and carnivorous creatures, while the revamped controls support careful analog movement, crouching and free aiming. Grenades can even be dropped behind him, creating options for dealing with threats without simply charging ahead. Players who prefer the original style can switch to the optional Old School controls, which restore hopping and digital movement. The rebuilt presentation adds fluid animation, free-moving cameras and high-resolution visuals to familiar locations as well as new areas and secrets.
This is a single-player adventure, not a shared or competitive session. The appeal rests on guiding Abe through dangerous spaces and uncovering what lies beyond the factory, with the choice of control styles offering different ways to approach the same odyssey.
