NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION: Taishi is the fifteenth entry in KOEI TECMO’s historical simulation series, set amid Japan’s warring states. Its central idea is that each clan is distinguished by its own Resolve, while individual officers’ convictions shape the game’s strategic variety. More than a roster of historical figures, the premise puts those differences at the heart of how players approach rival powers.
The design spans civil affairs and diplomacy as well as battlefield planning. Revamped Civil and Diplomatic systems broaden the strategic choices, and evolved simulation AI is intended to make opposing daimyo feel more humanlike. Battles hinge on anticipation: during the Order/Advance phase, both sides plot simultaneously, turning guesses about enemy movement into tense clashes. The game also combines a high-definition 3D map and more than 2,000 officers with historical events, stories, and regional folklore, giving its grand-strategy framework a strong historical-drama dimension.
Listed as a single-player simulation, Taishi is built around an individual player managing strategy against the game’s AI, rather than a shared multiplayer match.
