Nobody - The Turnaround places the player in a parallel world resembling present-day reality, amid the less prosperous neighborhoods of a modern metropolis. You are an ordinary person without an elite background or special opportunities, trying to improve your circumstances through persistence. That starting point shapes the game’s perspective: progress is tied to the practical pressures of work and daily life, not heroic status.
Employment offers a path forward, from basic work such as bricklaying, leaflet distribution, and mail delivery to skilled jobs requiring training. The simulation also tracks health and emotions, and unexpected events may bring illness, injury, or low spirits. Balancing those conditions with work and recreation is part of the routine; pastimes include Chinese chess, dancing, internet-café games, and time in a bookstore. Social interactions matter too: building affinity with characters can uncover their stories, and romance is possible with some of them.
The game offers Story Mode and Sandbox Mode as distinct ways to approach this life-management premise. Story Mode follows a difficult journey, while Sandbox Mode allows freer career planning without the same restraints.
