Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition brings the content of the Diamond Edition into a role-playing game where players shape a hero and venture through classic Dungeons & Dragons adventures. The setting pairs danger and discovery with a central crisis: in the original campaign, a cursed plague ravages Neverwinter, sending the protagonist through cities, dungeons, and wilderness in search of a cure. Character concepts range from a stealthy half-elven rogue to a spellcasting gnome or an armored dwarven paladin.
Its design extends beyond a single campaign. The included adventures span the original story, the expansions Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark, and three premium modules. Players can also use the Aurora Toolset to build worlds with monsters, items, traps, encounters, and settings, then share them with the community. The Dungeon Master Client adds another role: guiding an adventure by controlling the creatures and characters players encounter.
Its rebuilt multiplayer system is designed to help players find persistent worlds or join friends, while its toolkit and community-made modules point to a game that also invites people to create and run adventures. Those distinct ways to play provide context for why activity may involve more than one kind of session.
