Nebuchadnezzar is a city-building strategy game set across the history of ancient Mesopotamia. Players develop a settlement into a thriving city, coordinating agriculture, industry and trade while ensuring residents can obtain the goods and services they need. Its economy connects population classes, industries and different workforce types, so expansion calls for balancing production and civic needs rather than simply adding more buildings.
The campaign moves through historical missions, from early colonization in Mesopotamia to the Persian conquest of Babylon in the sixth century BC. Each mission is framed by the political, economic and technological conditions of its period. Deities add another strategic consideration: players can choose to worship Inanna for greater prestige from trade or Enlil to accelerate population growth. Monument design offers a more creative counterpoint to resource management, with an editor for customizing layouts, colors and details.
That mix of planned economic development, historical scenarios and hands-on monument creation gives Nebuchadnezzar a deliberate, single-player format. Modding support also opens the design to additions such as buildings, goods, production chains, maps and missions. The result is a historical city builder that pairs logistical challenges with room to shape a city’s architectural identity.
