Naval Warfare sets its conflict in a fantasy world of Victorian architecture, where industrial superpowers are at war. You take command of a Naval Super-Destroyer, with a campaign objective that goes beyond ship-to-ship combat: destroy enemy Boss Units in battles described as taking place in, under and above the surface. That layered setting gives the game a broader military scale than its naval title alone suggests.
Its scenarios pit your forces against repeated attacks from ships, planes and gigantic Special Forces, while the enemy roster also includes submarines and futuristic vehicles. Powerful weapons can receive lethal upgrades, giving the combat a destructive, upgrade-focused edge. The campaign’s story-line and stylized cut-scenes frame these encounters as part of a larger conflict, rather than a sequence of battles without narrative context.
Naval Warfare also supports multiplayer competition and a co-operative mode in which players fight alongside one another against the PC; its categories additionally list shared or split-screen play.
