Nano Neighbors casts the player as a Handler caring for a customizable android companion called a NANO. Its fictional backdrop imagines NanoCorp’s androids becoming more capable through connection: the bond between Handler and NANO is described as shaping the companion’s growth, efficiency, and potential. The game brings that relationship onto the desktop, where the NANO can remain on screen while its owner works, studies, browses, or relaxes.
Care combines personal expression with light management. Players can customize and upgrade their NANO, decorate its futuristic capsule home, assign jobs such as crafting, gathering, and research assistance, and play mini-games to earn rewards. Those rewards can be spent on further customization. The design therefore pairs a persistent desktop companion with tasks and a private space to develop, rather than presenting the experience solely as a conventional match-based game.
Social features broaden that format: players can visit friends’ capsules and interact with their NANOs, while Discord integration supports shared spaces and play with friends who do not own the game. Twitch chat commands can also let viewers help with tasks, send gifts, or join a capsule home.
