MustScream casts you as a journalist investigating an abandoned suburban hospital after mysterious deaths and the facility’s sudden closure. The objective is to collect ten scattered medical records and find a way out. Its central twist turns the player’s fear into an input: you can only run by screaming into a microphone, while ordinary movement uses WASD. The result is a horror premise in which making noise can help you escape, but may also draw danger closer.
That risk comes from sound-sensitive enemies, which may approach after hearing your voice or other noises. A flashlight and item pickups give you additional ways to navigate the hospital, while the game can also be played without a microphone, though running is then unavailable and the experience is described as much harder. The voice mechanic is therefore more than a novelty: it connects movement, stealth and the game’s unsettling soundscape.
MustScream supports solo play as well as online multiplayer for up to four players, including co-op. Friends can use proximity voice chat, and a player can bring a healing item to help a fallen companion recover. Those shared mechanics shape the game’s play format: a group can coordinate while exploring, but conversation and screams carry the same sound-related danger that defines the solo premise.
