MudRunner casts players as drivers tackling Siberian wilderness in powerful all-terrain vehicles. Its objectives and deliveries are set across untamed landscapes, where mud, rivers and other obstacles shape the route rather than simply decorating it. The premise is survival through careful navigation and vehicle handling, with a map and compass standing in for the usual comfort of a clearly marked road.
The driving is built around terrain that reacts to a vehicle’s weight and movement through the game’s physics system. Players can use a winch alongside their driving skills, and the vehicles differ in their characteristics and attachable equipment. Dynamic day-night cycles add another condition to journeys through the sandbox environments. Together, these details make MudRunner a simulation focused on negotiating difficult ground and completing practical tasks, rather than racing for speed.
MudRunner supports solo play as well as cooperative multiplayer for up to four players. Community-created mods are also available, extending the experience beyond the included vehicle and landscape premise.
