Mist Legacy places players in Myriaden, a storybook-styled world viewed from above. Its story begins when a trained Mistalker, tasked with exploring the barrier called the Mist and protecting Valsonge, wakes unexpectedly beyond it. The search for answers gives the adventure its central premise: a familiar duty has led into a world the character was not meant to reach.
Progression is built around practiced abilities rather than character classes. Skills used shape character growth, while skills also determine whether the player can explore particular forests, mountains, rivers, and cities. Crafting follows a related design: materials’ properties inform the skills of the items made, and those skills also affect buildings in the player’s Domain, a home base for crafting, storage, and guests. The result is an RPG whose exploration, equipment, and home-building are tied to character expertise.
Combat is turn-based and supports both recruited companions and cooperation with other players. Five specializations can be mixed to create different fighting styles, with strategy adapted to opponents.
