MIO: Memories in Orbit places its nimble robot protagonist aboard the Vessel, a drifting space ark now reduced to ruins and overrun by vegetation and rogue machines. Its caretaking AI, the Pearls, have stopped functioning, and the ship faces shutdown. Exploring its depths is tied to uncovering the Vessel’s lost memories and MIO’s own past, giving the journey a mystery that sits alongside the challenge of navigating the ship.
The Vessel is designed as a vast, interconnected labyrinth, and movement abilities shape how MIO gets through it. A grappling hook, air gliding, and wall-clinging open ways to traverse the environment, while precision, rhythm, and timing are central to maintaining a smooth run. Secret pathways reward curiosity, and the ship’s varied ecosystems, creatures, and architecture make exploration more than a route from one fight to the next.
Combat adds another layer of choice. MIO can evade with the Hook, fire orbs, or send decoy clones to attack from unexpected angles; scavenged enemy components, Modifiers, and ability adjustments let players tailor those tools. Along the way, repairing damaged robots can reveal more of the ark’s history and provide bonuses.
