Minds Beneath Us is a single-player adventure set in a near-future Taipei transformed by AI automation. You awaken trapped in an unfamiliar body, sharing it with the subconscious of its original owner. Meanwhile, human brains have become a replacement for the hardware that runs automated systems, and disadvantaged citizens are being drawn into that industry. A conspiracy takes shape against this unsettling social backdrop, giving the personal mystery a wider civic dimension.
The story responds to player decisions: dialogue choices and actions affect both its direction and character relationships. Close observation also matters. Examining environments and listening to conversations can reveal hidden clues, which may open additional dialogue options. That blend of social choices and scene-by-scene investigation gives the adventure a more deliberate rhythm than a format built around repeated competitive matches.
Its visual presentation combines hand-drawn, two-dimensional characters with detailed three-dimensional environments, using smooth camera movement to create a cinematic feel.
