Millennium - A New Hope begins with Marine, a young fighter from the murky lands of Myst, where illness or predators can cut life short. When her father is critically injured, she takes up his crusade: challenge the rulers of Mystrock, a wealthy megalopolis, in a traditional showdown. That personal act of defiance gives this opening episode of Aldorlea’s series its central dramatic question: can Marine overcome a world that expects her to fail?
The adventure combines story-led role-playing with quests, exploration and battles against monsters, including the feared Animal Kings. Players can choose among four difficulty levels and decide whether monsters appear visibly or invisibly, giving the game options for adjusting challenge and encounter presentation. Optional guiding arrows offer assistance with navigation, while secret rooms reward those inclined to explore. Marine can also summon Jeanne, her magically gifted fairy companion, for help when needed. These features make discovery and player preference part of the game’s design, alongside its central struggle against Mystrock’s lords.
Its documented appeal rests on Marine’s underdog story and a traditional RPG structure shaped by quests, secrets, difficulty choices and monster encounters. As the first episode in a series described as spanning five episodes and more than twenty characters, it also serves as an introduction to a wider fictional world.
