Might & Magic Heroes VII begins with a realm destabilized by the Empress’s murder. As rival claimants move toward the throne, Duke Ivan gathers six trusted advisors in an effort to restore order and end the conflict across Ashan. That succession crisis gives the game’s fantasy setting a political center, while its story-led journey frames the struggle as more than a sequence of battles.
Its design combines turn-based strategy with RPG progression. Players explore and conquer Ashan, manage an economy, and lead armies of legendary creatures into battle. Hero development adds another layer: heroes can be built with hundreds of abilities and powerful artifacts, connecting character growth to the game’s broader strategic ambitions. The mix places exploration, resource management, army command, and progression within one fantasy campaign experience.
Its defining appeal, however, is the blend of a succession-war narrative with turn-based empire-building and evolving heroes, rather than any one isolated feature.
