METAL GEAR SURVIVE takes the stealth-action foundation of METAL GEAR SOLID V into a spin-off set in a strange alternative universe. Players create a character and face a hostile environment where survival depends on more than staying unseen: exploration and scavenging are central to finding the resources needed to endure.
That survival loop combines resource gathering with crafting weapons and building a base camp. Players also explore the unknown while developing survival skills, tying preparation and discovery to the game’s action-adventure premise. The result is a distinct blend of stealth action and survival systems rather than a direct continuation of the main story.
Alongside single-player, the game offers online co-op missions in which a team of four infiltrates and defends areas against hordes of creatures. Teams place fortifications and defensive weapons to meet intensifying attacks, with teamwork and resourcefulness emphasized.
