Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 gathers four entries from the series’ later years: Mega Man X5, X6, X7, and X8. Its central appeal is the contrast between two returning heroes. Players can guide X through challenging stages, jumping and firing his arm cannon, or choose Zero and cut through enemies with his energy saber. The collection presents these games as the second half of the Mega Man X saga, spanning two gaming eras.
Beyond the stage-based action, X Challenge offers a different test: two-on-one battles against two bosses. That format shifts the focus from advancing through a challenging stage to confronting paired opponents, while keeping the collection’s combat at the center. A large museum adds another way to engage with the series, bringing together production art, merchandise catalogs, nostalgic commercials, and other material. The collection also includes an animated prequel film about the origins of the villain Sigma.
The single-player format frames this as a collection for individual play, rather than a game built around concurrent multiplayer sessions. Taken together, its four games, alternate playable characters, and museum make the package both a set of action adventures and a retrospective on the series’ later era.
