Medieval: Total War™ - Collection bundles Medieval: Total War with its official Viking Invasion expansion, bringing together strategy set amid the upheavals of the medieval era. The main game spans four centuries, from the first Crusade to the fall of Constantinople, and challenges players to extend their influence and build a dynastic empire across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Its strategy combines recruiting and deploying armies with diplomacy, settlement sieges and naval battles. Emissaries, spies and assassins can pursue alliances, bribes or covert actions, while rebellion and civil war shape the struggle for power. Battles are staged on a large scale, and a character system built around Valour, Vice and Virtues affects how leaders are treated and the troops they command. Fortified castles also give sieges a distinctive role in the campaign.
Viking Invasion shifts the focus to the British Isles and western Scandinavia between 793 and 1066. Players can lead Viking raids or command early Anglo-Saxon factions such as Wessex and Mercia in an effort to repel the invasion and control the British Isles. The expansion adds factions, units and a campaign map, alongside features for the original game, including flaming ammunition and further factions for its Grand Campaign.
