MechDefender brings two familiar strategy and action formats together: defend a homeland under siege by alien undead, then step into a Mech and fight the advancing hordes yourself. Its central tension comes from dividing attention between a vulnerable base and the battlefield outside it. The headquarters must be protected, while the towers’ power cores also need fortifying, so defense is more than placing weapons and waiting.
Base-building gives that combat a tactical layer. Players can construct maze-like routes for enemies, choose among different tower types, and improve the defenses with upgrades. Meanwhile, Mech models such as Thunder, Fury, Revenant, and Punisher have distinct attributes, making robot selection part of the preparation. The game describes four campaigns and more than 50 missions, pairing varied objectives with its blend of shooting and defensive planning.
Its appeal rests on switching between strategic construction and immediate action, with the survival of the base tying those roles together.
