Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite brings together characters from two long-running universes in a fighting game framed around their struggle to survive a merged-world threat. Its cinematic story centers on heroes and villains joining forces against Ultron Sigma, a villain formed from Marvel’s Ultron and Capcom’s Sigma. Familiar fighters such as Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Ryu, and Mega Man X anchor a crossover that links its combat premise with a shared narrative.
The defining combat choice is a free-form 2v2 team battle: players select Marvel and Capcom characters and can build pairings around the game’s team format. Six Infinity Stones offer another layer of customization, granting distinct abilities and effects that can shift a battle’s course. Rather than relying on a single fixed roster identity, the design combines character selection with a choice of Stone, giving matchups two clear points of variation.
Alongside player-versus-player combat, the game includes Arcade, Training, and Mission modes, as well as its cinematic Story Mode. Its multiplayer offering lists ranked and casual matches, online lobbies with spectator mode, and global leaderboards.
