Marauders casts players as space mercenaries in an alternative 1990s where the Great War never ended and Earth has been pushed to industrial breaking point. Its setting gives the raids a desperate edge: crews venture into hostile reaches of space to salvage valuable goods and make it back alive. The premise is not just backdrop; survival and plunder shape the purpose of each expedition.
Each match combines tactical first-person combat with scavenging and escape. Players can work alone or alongside as many as three others, facing enemy teams and AI opponents in combat described as using realistic bullet simulation. Raids can lead through hulking frigates or to moving asteroids, while loot and on-the-fly gear upgrades put preparation and adaptation into the same run. A crew’s ship is part of the risk and reward too: players can improve its armaments, build a craft from scavenged resources, or try to take another ship by force.
Between expeditions, persistent gear and XP connect one match to the next: equipment can be kept, weapons modified, and XP used to unlock items.
